Club Championships Finals Report
The title of club mens champion has returned to Neil Cordell after an absence of three years. Neil, who has spent a substantial percentage of his life hitting squash balls on Wiggy's courts defeated new member Simon Myring. Simon, a regular player in our Yorkshire league team lives in Harrogate and his efforts to play at and for our club are very much appreciated.
Neil beat Simon 3-0 but the quality of squash played ranks it amongst the top finals the club has seen, score lines do not always represent the effort or skill level on court.
In the mens plate we saw Jonny Davies beat Chris Stephenson 3-2 in a hard fought game. Although Chris took a 6 point to nil lead in the first, Jonny came back and won it 9-7, the next two games were shared and the fourth went to 10 with Jonny having a match ball but eventually conceded a stroke with a loose drive and Chris won the game. It all went on the fifth game which Jonny won making him the plate victor!
Previously, as reported, Jenny Nendick became a new name on the Ladies Championship board by beating Annette Enzor 3-0.
